Does moving water change how readily young Chinook salmon acquire a bacterial infection?
Reveal the findingHide the finding
In this laboratory comparison, Flavobacterium columnare was detected less often in young Chinook salmon exposed in flowing water than in a static bath. Detection in flowing water was reported in one asymptomatic fish (4%) and one moribund fish (4%), compared with 38% and 29%, respectively, in the static-bath groups.
